Objective:

Bringing together corporate social investors to contribute to real long-term social change, directly, through their own operations or indirectly through corporate social vehicles.

We aim to replicate in Latin America this initiative created by our sister network, EVPA. Corporate Social Actors (business foundations, social businesses, accelerators, and corporate incubators) are key to the social and philanthropic investment ecosystem. We intend to develop -with the support of leading business social actors of the region- a platform where these actors can learn, connect, and share their best practices in order to advance in their social investment by leveraging greater company resources (financial and non-financial).

Social corporate initiative

Conversation with Daniel Pérez García
Head of Impact Investment, Bancolombia Group

1. Why is it important to hold conversations on Corporate Social Actors?

In order to achieve the systemic changes towards sustainability required by our economic model, large corporations must rethink their role as social actors, evolving their CSR programs and truly placing impact at the core of the business. Only within the business model of large organizations lies the scale and true capacity to make meaningful contributions to the SDGs. This change of vision requires a deep conviction from the organization’s leaders, as they will probably face resistance to change from some interest groups along the way. At the same time, having a network of allies to share experiences may be of great help, capitalizing lessons learned and avoiding unnecessary pain.

2. What is the value that you see in Latimpacto as a facilitator of these conversations?

As a strategic philanthropy and impact investment network in Latin America and the Caribbean, Latimpacto can play that role, as a promoter and ally in the construction of the corporate social actor identity inside large organizations. Its comprehensive vision as an articulator of the continuum of capital and the experience of its partner networks facilitate calls for participation of internal and external publics for the development of that identity. As Latimpacto founding partners, we are certain of the opportunity and responsibility that all corporations have to improve -based on our role- the levels of equity and economic development in our region. Also, that transformation can be accelerated by means of dialogue and the construction of the network and social fabric.
